Mr. Chambers Yang Gave An Interview to Wall Street Journal on Copyright Infringement of Tomato Garden

Last Thursday, Huqiu District People’s Court, Suzhou, Jiangsu sentenced the founders of Chengdu Gongruan Network Technology Co., Ltd., Hong Lei and Sun Xianzhong, and another two employees of the company imprisonment of two to three years respectively with a total fine of 11 millions RMB. Wall Street Journal interviewed Mr. Chambers Yang regarding the event. Mr. Yang talked about the significance of the case to sanctions against IP infringement in China. He also gave a brief profile of the status quo of legislation, means of protecting IP in China, intricacies present in hearing IP cases in China, burden of proof, criminal punishment, use of judicial precedent, etc.
